The invisible blockchain ๐ From modularity to staking, blockchain developers are now focusing on another aspect of improving adoption - chain abstraction. Backed by Coinbase Ventures and Wintermute, Router Protocol has released its own Layer-1 network, Router Chain, capable of supporting interactions between dApps across multiple chains. The chain is built on Cosmos' Tendermint technology. It aims to promote seamless cross-chain transactions through its own Cross-Chain Intent Network, where users don't have to note which network they are using. Additionally, Router Chain will utilize a new version of the protocol's native token, ROUTE, to secure the network and facilitate transaction payments. Earlier in January, the team had launched the first bridging protocol on the network, known as Nitro. With the launch of the Router Chain mainnet, the team has introduced an additional issuance of $10M ROUTE tokens, increasing the total supply to 30M. The current version of ROUTE will also be migrated to the new version, ROUTE 2.0, at a conversion rate of 33.3 new tokens per ROUTE. Editor's Note: While narratives like modularity, parallelization, and restaking don't seem too interesting to the average user, chain abstraction does have some merit in lowering the barrier to entry for the next wave of adopters. Allowing users to take advantage of utilizing cross-chain apps on different blockchains without the added confusion goes a long way in helping newcomers gradually learn and navigate across the wide landscape of crypto. |
