The month of June is filled with milestones -- my birthday, Dave and my anniversary, and the creation of my blog (just to name a few).
And as I sit here typing while my kids play with neighbors in the pool and Dave is nearby doing yard work, I feel an overwhelming appreciation for YOU.
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that the daily blog I started back in June of 2007, would eventually provide an opportunity to do something I love while staying home with my kids and allowing Dave to spend summers at home with us too.
Whether you've been following along from the very beginning (you know who you are) or if this is your very first email... THANK YOU! 🥰
Thank you for 17 years of sharing my passion for simple living, for 15 summers with Dave at home, for 13 years at home with my kids, and for daily interactions with so many of you from around the world!
Sometimes I take it all for granted... but most of the time, I recognize how fortunate we are.
My family and I deeply appreciate you and whatever interest you have taken in my little corner of the internet over these last 17 years! 💕
Simple Food.
You know we all love a good strawberry pie around here... but, every once in a while, I mix it up with a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. This pie is TOTALLY different from my famous strawberry pie (it's baked, not refrigerated) but still super yummy and a wonderful way to kick off the official start of summer this week!
If you're looking for a simple mindset shift that could transform the way you view your stuff and streamline your home and life in the process, use the 80/20 rule. It's a great "rule" to help you downsize without going super minimalistic and regretting it later.
I love a good time management tip... and I'm sharing one of my favorites today (along with many examples from my own life and how to apply this tip to your life!)
Great minds think alike! Dave and I shared our special days on Sunday (my birthday + Father's Day) and unknowingly got each other a big bag of candy. The kids thought it was pretty funny too!
And yes, this is how we do special days -- nothing big, elaborate, or fancy.
Outdoor Organization: If you're looking for ideas to organize all your outdoor toys, games, sporting equipment, and/or pool accessories, I wrote a long post with tons of pictures and tips last summer...
A Great Podcast Episode: I listened to an amazing podcast conversation between Abbey from M. is for Mama and Erin Loechner from The Opt-Out family and I know many of you will love it too (listen to it here).
I knew Erin from WAY back in the early days of blogging (when she ran Design for Mankind) and was surprised to learn (via the podcast episode) that she has also gone 100% social media free in her online career! I didn't think anyone else did that! LOL!
Anyway, I loved the podcast conversation and I love Erin's passion for a slower, simpler, tech-free family life. If that's your thing, listen to their conversation. You will be encouraged and even more convicted that "opting out" is the way to go, even if it is swimming against the mainstream current.
