Who made the memecoin? π΅️ A surprising turn of events for the latest Trump-themed token to hit the crypto space. Long-time popular crypto influencer GCR has come out of the woodwork in pursuit of the creator of the DJT memecoin, issuing a $100M bet against Trump's supposed involvement in the project. Another influencer, Alex Wice, originally proposed the bet with a wager of just $1M. Not too long after, blockchain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence offered a $150,000 bounty to anyone who could prove the identity of the creator of the DJT memecoin. The infamous 'Pharma Bro', Martin Shkreli, who had initially denied any involvement in the token's creation, then revealed himself as the mastermind behind DJT. With this revelation, Shkreli now wants GCR to honor their bet, claiming that the token was launched in collaboration with Donald Trump's son, Barron. However, it remains to be seen whether GCR will entertain this request or back out altogether. Regardless, the drama surrounding DJT has inevitably affected its price, as DJT has fallen by 50% from $0.22 to $0.11 as of the time of writing. Editor's Note: It's unlikely that anyone will part with $100M from such a claim. As per the condition needed to satisfy the bet, GCR mentions that it is only 'real' if Donald Trump himself claims that the memecoin is his. As such, it's still really anybody's guess as to whether the Trump campaign is actually involved or if this is just another regular memecoin. |
