Welcome to The Week in Charts, where we break down Gallup's latest insights on our constantly evolving world. Here are the six insights you shouldn't miss this week: | 1. Russia's Brand Hits Rock Bottom | | It may not surprise you that Russia's favorable rating in the U.S. is at a historic low, but it did surprise your humble author that it's much worse now than it was back when it was still called the Soviet Union. While the decline in favorability has been gradual since the early 2000s, when the war on terrorism seemed to bring the two nations together, the recent drop coincides with Moscow's latest war with Ukraine. Overall, it doesn't paint a promising picture for Biden's 2024 aspirations. Read More | | 5. Is It Over? | | Since COVID vaccines hit the market in 2021, which feels like a lifetime ago, we started asking Americans if they thought the pandemic was over. We still find them split on this question. That being said, our trends on their precautionary measures like mask use, social distancing and avoiding big crowds tell a more complex story of what "over" or "normal" means today. Read More | 6. Banks in America | | Yes, another scare for markets triggered by bank failures — this time not on Wall Street, but out in Silicon Valley, and a real jolt for several regional banks. But despite the long road back from 2008, Americans' confidence in banks is not much higher than it was in the darkest moments of the Great Recession. | | And that's The Week in Charts!
