Short on time? Read: 3 Areas to Downsize for a Simpler Life The last couple of weeks have been FULL for us (it's that time of year!) Dave had parent-teacher conferences and a handful of church meetings. One child's class was "quarantined" for the week (which meant I was their teacher and had to rearrange my plans). All the kids had field trips -- accompanied by their favorite mom 🥰. Friends needed meals and babysitters. And... I feel like every church program, school group, and local non-profit needs more volunteers! I say "yes" a lot... but I've flexed my "no muscles" more than a few times recently. It's never fun to say "no", but I've learned the hard way that whenever I say "yes" to anything, I'm inadvertently saying "no" to something else. My intention is to say "yes" to what's most important to me at this point in my life... even if it means saying "no" to really good things. I challenge you to pause and consider your "yeses" and "nos" this week too! Simple Food. Want an easy make-ahead breakfast that's perfect for fall weekends? Try our favorite overnight french toast casserole! Make it a full day in advance and pop it in the oven after you wake up... or bake it completely ahead and just warm it up when you're ready to eat. Feel free to experiment with different flavors too -- add canned pumpkin, cinnamon applesauce, chopped pecans, or even sliced bananas for a whole new taste! Often, the word "downsize" brings to mind images of a retired couple moving into a smaller home now that their children have "left the nest". And that is one way to downsize. However, there are many other ways you can downsize your life right now (no moving required) and enjoy a simpler, slower, more intentional life. I share a few ideas in this week's post... Read the post --> 3 Ways to Downsize for a Simpler Life In other news... We finally closed our pool... the goal to swim in October was achieved! The furnace is running for the first time since spring (these are the fabulous furnace filters we buy online). The mudroom is officially ready for winter. I swapped swimsuits for snowsuits and made a list of a few cold weather items we still need to hunt down (hopefully at a local thrift store). I'm re-reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" for the first time since my sophomore year in high school. Our little front yard vegetable garden is still pumping out peppers, tomatoes, and herbs! This antique letterpress tray is the perfect space for the boys to organize + display their rocks. I love the "farmhouse" vibe and how it instantly turned a cluttered box of rocks into a cool decorative piece for their room!
