The Nicest Places in America is our annual search for places where people are kind, differences are celebrated, and neighbors work together to make life better for everyone. We couldn’t find them without the help of our readers.
Since 2017, Reader’s Digest audiences have told us about thousands of towns, cities, neighborhoods, libraries, businesses, places of worship, and beyond for the Nicest Places in America. Places like Asheville, North Carolina, which took top honor after a receiving a record-breaking five nominations from people who live in the region and witnessed neighbors pick up the pieces of one another’s homes and lives in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Or the Chicago bookstore kept alive by the community after its finances were hacked. Anywhere can be a Nicest Place, as long as kindness thrives and someone is willing to tell its story.
