Dave and I borrowed a bunch of Mario Bro. decor and costumes to host a Super Mario trunk at our church's annual Fall Fest Trunk or Treat.
Of course, we needed a Mario... and it just so happened that an older man from church wanted to help pass out candy without decorating a trunk... so we partnered together, and it was a big hit with kids and adults.
What do you think... should I go blonde!?
Mario, Princess Peach, and Luigi - October 2025
It's another slower week for our family -- lots of time spent playing with neighbors, cooking yummy foods, reading good books, and hanging out at home.
We started piano lessons again after taking a hiatus during the busy weeks from mid-August through mid-October. It's been a little rough getting the kids back into the swing of practicing, but I don't regret saying "no" to piano during those extra-busy weeks of back-to-school, football, volleyball, and church activities.
If you struggle to make confident "yes" or "no" decisions, you will benefit from this week's Intentional Living post.
And if you're looking for a delicious make-ahead salad recipe or a few tips to help you develop more organized habits, I've got that covered too. ☺️
Hope you have a great week,
simple food.
This easy, make-ahead salad has great crunch, delicious tang, bright colors, and so much savory goodness -- you'll love it even if you think you don't like Brussels Sprouts!
The flavors get better after a few hours, so make it a day ahead and save yourself some time and mess in the kitchen!
Even the most organized people don't have a magic gene or endless amounts of free time. They've simply built habits that make staying on top of things feel easier -- almost second nature.
These are the five everyday habits that help organized people keep their homes running smoothly without chasing perfection.
Our days are often overflowing with people who need us, opportunities to get involved, events to help with, committees to join, and so many good and worthy causes to support.
But before you flippantly agree to another request, or continually make the excuse that you "don't have time", stop and consider these questions!
Whole Grain Source: I'm regularly asked where I purchase all my grains -- the answer is: Country Life Natural Foods. It's not the least expensive option, but for me, it's the easiest. I order large shipments 1 to 2 times per year and store the grain in food-grade 5-gallon buckets with gamma lids in our basement. My most recent shipment arrived over the weekend!
A Good Re-Read: I'm normally not one to re-read books or re-watch movies, but I'm re-reading Little Women for the umteenth time and it's still so good.
