 | The voice of the world in numbers | | Sept. 30, 2025 | | | Welcome to Front Page, Gallup's indispensable intelligence distilled into five charts that give leaders the insights they need to make their most important decisions. | | 1. Latest Ratings of U.S. Industries | | The Highs: Sixty percent of Americans rate the farming industry positively, followed by the computer (59%) and restaurant (52%) industries. Positive ratings of the other 22 U.S. business sectors and industries range from 23% to 43%. Since Gallup began tracking this measure in 2001, these three industries have consistently earned majority-positive ratings in nearly all years. The Lows: The federal government is now the lowest-rated sector at 23%, overtaking the pharmaceutical industry, which held that position the previous two years. These two sectors draw majority-negative sentiment. Read More | | | 2. Movie, TV, Telephone Industry Ratings Tank | | The Data: Positive ratings for the movie (31%), TV/radio (32%) and telephone (34%) industries are at or near record lows. The Trend: Each has declined, in some cases unevenly, since about 2017, with the movie and television sectors each at new lows in 2025, by one percentage point. The telephone industry's rating matches the low first recorded in 2002. Read More | | | 3. Hope for Peace in Middle East | | The Data: Twenty-one percent of Israelis and 23% of Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem believe permanent peace will ever be achieved. These figures are based on surveys conducted between June and August 2025. In Context: These views are largely unchanged from 2024 but represent an increase in optimism from 2023. In a survey conducted in the West Bank and East Jerusalem just before the Oct. 7 attack, 15% said they thought peace was attainable. Thirteen percent said the same in Israel in a poll conducted just after the attack. Read More | | | 4. Support for Two-State Solution | | The Data: In 2025, 27% of Israelis and 33% of Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem support a two-state solution. The Trend: Majorities of both Israelis and Palestinians supported a two-state solution in 2012 — 61% in Israel and 66% in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. While that had nearly evaporated by 2023, Palestinian support has since inched up from 26% to 33%. Read More | | | 5. Low Grades for Schools | | The Data: Just 35% of Americans are satisfied with the quality of K-12 education in the U.S., the lowest Gallup has recorded since tracking began in 1999. National-Local Gap: Parents of K-12 students are about twice as satisfied with their own child's education as they are with education in the U.S. overall. K-12 parents are also more likely than U.S. adults in general to rate different aspects of education positively, including the direction of education in the nation and schools' preparation of students for the workforce and college. Still, none of these ratings is near the majority level. Read More | | | | | |
