| Monday, September 29, 2025 The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released the annual update of bikeshare and electric scooter (e-scooter) system data. The dataset includes cities with a bikeshare (docked or dockless) and/or e-scooter system in operation as of June 30th in each year from 2015 to 2025. As of June 30, 2025, 72 docked bikeshare systems open to the public operated 9,624 docking stations in the U.S. One docked bikeshare system closed in August 2025 bringing the number of docked bikeshare systems down to 71 and the total number of stations to 9,594. Excluding the system that closed in August 2025, on average, each system operated 135 docking stations. The largest system (Citi Bike serving New York City, NY; Jersey City, NJ; and Hoboken, NJ) operated just over 2,200 stations, and 21 systems had 10 or fewer stations. The number of dockless bikeshare systems rose from 78 in 2024 while the number of e-scooters systems fell from 215 in 2024. The dockless bikeshare systems served 63 cities and e-scooters served 132 cities in 2025.
