[Go Make Things] AI myth: I can find things can't find with Google

​ One of the more common responses I got to my article on how AI is a grift is something to effect of… When I search with Chat GPT, I find answers that I can't find with Google. Part of the reason why that happens is because if GPT can't find an answer, it literally just makes shit up. Google will at least tell you "we didn't find anything." Chat GPT (and its kinfolk) are like that overconfident tech bro that will state an opinion or made up answer with extremely believable certainty rather than admit they just don't fucking know. But the other factor here is that Google is getting worse. Chat GPT turning up stuff that doesn't show up in Google doesn't mean GPT is better. Google has slowly made their core service, the thing they're literally known for, bad to the point of virtually unusable. Duck Duck Go is a bit better, but slowly getting worse as well. And the proliferation of AI-generated bullshit is only going to make sure results worse in the coming years. That AI tool you love? You're digging your own grave.
