We made it... just barely, and we're ready for summer break!
1. A field trip with Simon; 2. Nora's 1/2 birthday; 3. & 4. Simon and James at their baseball game under the lights; 5. Clara's class picnic; 6. Nora's band concert; 7. Clara's park party; 8. Dave's graduation; 9. Blacklight dodgeball with James
We don't have big plans this summer (we really never do!) Just lots of time at home with neighbors, friends, and family.
The kids have asked to "re-do" their bedrooms, so we're entertaining that idea. We also need to spread LOTS of mulch, plant all our annuals, finish our chicken coop, finish a new "clubhouse" we're building for the kids inside a cluster of spruce trees, and work on our vegetable garden.
That should keep us busy enough in between swimming, sports, and doling out 17 snacks per day!
I hope this week's email, blog posts, and links help you jump-start your summer and bring a bit more peace and simplicity to your home and life!
Simple Food.
Fresh-from-the-garden (or farmer's market) cucumbers and tomatoes add the perfect crunch to our family's favorite Italian Chopped Salad.
This salad is ridiculously easy to make and it tastes great for a couple of days (so you can easily make it ahead!)
I've always been fairly laid back when it comes to kids and chores. However, I do want my kids to learn these valuable life skills -- it's a balancing act that we're always tweaking!
This week on the blog, I'm sharing our approach to chores, as well as a free printable with 60+ chores for kids... I hope it is helpful for your family!
Patriotic Photo Fail: The whole family was decked out in patriotic garb this weekend, and I reminded myself at least 3 times to get a picture... but I never followed through. I did snap one of Clara though. 🇺🇸
Mini Declutter Challenge: I challenge you to declutter 100 things from your home TODAY -- I know you can do it! 🥳 (this post will help).
Bored Kiddos? Here are 5 ideasthat should help you out this summer! 😘
Peonies! They're blooming, they smell amazing, and I'm keeping a vase in the bathroom (I don't like ants in the kitchen!)
I have lots of fun Favorite Things to share with you next week!
Andrea
