The Cost of College and Its Effect on Enrollment | | While the net cost students pay for college is typically much less than the sticker price, many students — nearly one in four undergraduates — still need to take out loans to pay for their higher education. The latest Lumina Foundation-Gallup report, Cost of College: The Price Tag of Higher Education and Its Effect on Enrollment, shows concerns about college affordability are top of mind for Americans. | | | | | Explore this report to see the opportunities institutions have regarding the perception of the cost of college and barriers to enrollment. | | Most Student Loan Borrowers Have Delayed Major Life Events | Another major finding from the Lumina-Gallup Cost of College report is that 71% of U.S. adults who have taken out student loans report having delayed at least one significant life event because of their student loan debt. Read more about the implications of these findings and what they mean for students and institutions. | | | How Happy Is Gen Z? | | Last month, we revealed that happiness is on the decline in the U.S. There is good news though — especially for educators. A new report from Gallup and the Walton Family Foundation finds that three-quarters of Gen Z — children and young adults born between 1997 and 2012 — say they are very happy (25%) or somewhat happy (48%). | | | | | Check out the Walton Family Foundation Voices of Gen Z Study to see the details including data on Gen Z happiness, depression, anxiety, stress, sadness and engagement at school. | | | Teacher Recognition Is Critical to Engagement | | With Teacher Appreciation Week approaching, it's important to remember that recognition is a key driver of engagement. It's one of the 12 employee needs that make up the items on Gallup's Q12 engagement survey. Check out these articles to see why teacher recognition is so important and what best practices leaders can follow to make sure they're nailing it. | | | | Insights From Top Leaders in Education | | This year's Gallup at Work Summit will feature keynotes from several prominent education leaders.
