On The Blog: Space-saving freezer-cooking tips + 5 Habits of Organized People I've had lots of thoughts about "homemaking" this past week... mainly how important it is, and how impactful (positive or negative) the atmosphere in our home is on all who enter. And while there are skills we can learn to improve our homemaking abilities, so much of it just comes down to our attitudes. Do we begrudgingly make a gourmet meal and complain about all the cleanup, or do we cheerfully serve bowls of leftover soup while chatting about the day? Do we lament the monotony of performing the same tasks over and over (because we know it will get dirty again) or do we consider the fact that we are blessing our family with every dirty sock and spoon we wash? I'm guilty of the former on too many occasions, but I'd like to think I'm improving! No matter where you live or what your employment status is, you are a "homemaker" because you have the ability to "make" your "home" into a place that restores you and your people from today and readies you for whatever tomorrow brings (and that has nothing to do with your culinary skills or your eye for design). My sincere hope is that everything I share here helps you improve AND enjoy your homemaking efforts a little bit more. 🏠 Simple Food. Intentional Living. Do you wish you had more time to read, bake, journal, go for a walk, listen to a podcast, work on a Bible study, take a long hot shower, or do something just for you? Try waking up earlier! Keep reading --> How to get excited to wake up earlier. In other news... More snow days: We had more snow days, ice days, and even fog days... which meant lots of fun times with the kids and not much time online. At least Buster is "warming up" to the snow! A buzzer-beater: James had his first basketball game on Saturday and his team played well. He made a few baskets -- including a buzzer-beater. His teammates were SO excited and it was a fun way to end the game. New Pictures: It's been YEARS since I updated the bigger framed pictures on our walls... I kept waiting for the "perfect" professional pictures (which we haven't had in years). Instead, I let the kids each pick their favorite picture and we're all thrilled with how my unprofessional phone camera pictures turned out! Weekly Meal Plan (it's an easy-meal type of week!)
Have a great week -- and if you're stuck inside due to snow, ice, fog, or whatever, you might consider freezer cooking and decluttering! 😉 Blessings on your homemaking endeavors this week! Andrea |
