On The Blog: 7 Everday ways to cultivate a more peaceful home and world The kids had Thursday and Friday off from school for Teachers' Convention (which Dave attended), and in true "Andrea Dekker" fashion, the kids and I spent part of our time shopping the 80% discount sale at our local thrift store, and part of our time moving furniture around our house. 😉 In case you're wondering, you can fit a full-size couch in the back of a minivan! This round of "musical rooms" was initiated because our children decided they were ready to part with the play kitchen I lovingly made 10 years ago 🥲. The plan is to transition the upstairs landing area from a play space into a hangout space (hence the couch). We're not finished with the space yet but it's already looking cute -- I'll share more soon! Simple Food. Hearty and filling, easy and delicious. This family-friendly favorite is sure to win over even your toughest critics! (I'm sharing 2 more favorite fall soups in my weekly meal plan below). MSU vs. U of M: The boys had fun watching the first half of the rival football game this weekend (even though they both knew U of M would win). They have crazy good memories for sports stats -- thankfully this also holds true for math facts and Bible verses! Bloody Knuckles? Nora and I signed up for what we thought was a face painting class at the library... but it turned out to be a "special effects makeup class" (A.K.A. how to make fake cuts, burns, blood, and bruises). 😂 It was actually quite interesting, and I now have an extremely random new skill (plus, fun pictures for our photo books!) Weekly Meal Plan: many of you requested more meal plans, so I'll share what we're eating again this week... hopefully it will give you a few helpful ideas!
Fabulous Fall: For those of you who don't get the pleasure of witnessing Michigan's beautiful seasons, I'll end today's email with a gorgeous picture from yesterday's walk! I'll be back next week with my Favorite Things (can't believe it's almost November!) In the meantime, I'd love to hear your thoughts on cultivating a more peaceful home. Blessings, Andrea |
