This month is all about strengths application. To truly grow your talents into strengths you can depend on, time and time again, you must take the time to invest in and apply them. When we think about strengths application, we should consider creating tasks, having conversations or setting goals that are aligned with our strengths. This approach brings your strengths into focus and allows you to find ways to complement your natural talents. Check out this strengths-based goal-setting template that helps you focus on your strengths and connect them to your goals — whether big or small. | | Strengths Application | 3 Ways to Apply Your Strengths | | Your strengths will never grow to their fullest potential if you don't commit to investing in them. This means connecting them to your daily habits, thoughts and goals. Here are three simple ways to be intentional about strengths application: - The Healthy Pause. Give yourself a moment to process new situations. A little time allows you to sort your emotions, assess what's happening and purposefully apply your strengths.
- Capture Your Insights. Spend time thinking about your strengths — write about them or discuss with a friend any new insights you have — to help you retain and use what you learn.
- Check In and Check Out. Check in with yourself in the morning — how are you feeling? Which strength do you feel attuned with? Which strength do you need to apply more? Check out in the evening — what did you accomplish? How did your strengths help you? How could you have used them differently?

How did leaders miss this? Preorder or sign up for exclusive content for Gallup's latest book, Blind Spot: The Global Rise of Unhappiness and How Leaders Missed It, which launches in September. Here's a small excerpt on strengths and wellbeing: "At work, I have the opportunity to do what I do best every day. Less than one-third of workers strongly agree with that item. They are doing a job that does not allow them to use their strengths … This emotional detachment adds to the world's misery, and leaders miss it because they do not focus on how people feel in the workplace." | | | Gallup's Perspective | Have You Seen Our Latest DEI Research? | Culture transformation requires a serious, long-term commitment from leaders. To build an effective DEI strategy, leaders must ask: - What is your commitment?
- What changes will you make?
- How will you track progress?
- How will you sustain progress?
