Now, I'm sharing everything I've learned along the way.

I started a $10M business while working a full-time job. Here's my story.
Hey there, I'm David Gaylord. My skincare business, Bushbalm, is on pace to drive $10-12M in revenue this year. And it all started with $900 in funding and a full-time day job at Shopify.
I've learned a lot over the past 4+years. There were unexpected lessons about running a business while working at Shopify, but many things I had to learn firsthand. Truthfully, my mistakes have probably taught me more than anything else.
Something I've learned about myself is that I love helping other entrepreneurs succeed. The time and energy we invest in our businesses pays us back in hard-won experience; experience we should share freely to support the next class of creators and builders. That's why I'm excited to announce that I'll be releasing a six-part podcast and video seriessharing my journey building Bushbalm, published exclusively by Shopify.
There's no detail too small to share: we'll cover the nitty-gritty of product development, finances, marketing, hiring, and a lot in between. And we won't shy away from talking about failure, either. My goal is to have refreshingly honest and candid conversations so that more entrepreneurs, like you, will be successful.
Join me and Tony Shannan, my former boss and Shopify's COO, for the first episode as we talk about how I launched my business alongside my full-time job—and how I continue to support founders today in my role as Shopify's Entrepreneur-in-Residence.
