Short on time? Read: An Unexpected Benefit of Intentional Living. It's Wednesday... and you're getting an email from me?? In case you missed my email announcement yesterday, I'm switching my blog post + email to Wednesday mornings instead of Tuesday mornings -- simply because Tuesday mornings are busy for me this year and Wednesday mornings are not. How's that for a reasonable explanation?!? You can still expect the same "simple food, organized home, intentional living" content, with a few Dekker family updates thrown into the mix -- just one day later than before. And now, onto this week's content! Simple Food. Want a simple, make-ahead meal that's perfect for school lunches, busy weeknights, or weekend gatherings? I've got the recipe for you -- Pizza Sliders! They can be thrown together in just a few minutes, they can be made a full day in advance, and they can be customized to your family's taste preferences. Oh, and they only take about 20 minutes to bake! Serve them up as an after-school snack, a game-day treat, a quick weeknight dinner, or an easy weekend meal... and remember to make extras for lunches later in the week. I'm convinced that Space Budgets really are the key to maintaining a mostly organized home for most of the time. What are space budgets?? I shared a bit about them a month ago, but this post from the archives goes into more detail. Read the full post --> Solve your "Stuff Problems" with Space Budgets Intentional Living. Want to know one of my favorite benefits of living a simpler, slower, more intentional life? I'm sharing it on the blog today... and funny enough, it was an unexpected benefit! Read the full post --> An Unexpected Benefit of Intentional Living In other news... We celebrated Clara's 4th birthday over the weekend -- it was her first official birthday party (just with grandparents, cousins, etc.) and she loved it! We measured her on our growth chart and she's the 2nd tallest of our kiddos at age 4 (Nora was taller). A THROWBACK to 4 YEARS AGO TODAY! FREE MOVIES Since we don't have cable, we've enjoyed all the free books and TV programs that come with our Amazon Prime membership. More recently though (ever since we implemented "Family Movie Night" during COVID) we realized that Amazon Prime also offers TONS of great family-friendly movies -- all for free! You can currently get a free 30-Day Prime Trial (which includes all the books, TV shows, and movies.) Thoughts on loving life at home... I often get asked what I'm doing with "all my time" now that the kids are in school. Well... James and Clara are not "full time" yet, so I actually only have 2 hours a week where I'm "kid-free" during the day. That said, I truly have no intentions of doing anything different once they are all in school. I've found that I can fill up my days quite easily with volunteer opportunities at church and school -- and there are always people who need meals, and field trips that need chaperones, and house projects that need attention. I know my personality is not necessarily the norm in today's society, but I want to share my thoughts as encouragement for anyone who feels like their time at home is wasteful or less valuable. It's not! I'm amazed at how "full" my days can be if I want them to be... none of which is a result of a career or a job outside the home. As I mentioned in today's post, life is constantly changing, so I'm not opposed to the idea of working outside the home at some point. However, RIGHT NOW, I'm so content and feel such a sense of purpose at home (with or without kids)! Have a great week... I'll see you next week WEDNESDAY! ~ Andrea |
