This time of year, when the sun starts shining again in West Michigan, I quickly notice how dirty our windows got over the long, cold winter.
Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed thinking how long it will take to clean ALL the windows... but then I remind myself I don't need to clean all the windows today. I can clean 1 or 2, and then do a couple more tomorrow, and the next day.
This week, I started with the windows above my kitchen sink, because the morning sun shines right through them, and I stand at the sink a lot.
I've cleaned a few more since Monday, and I'll keep pluggin' away throughout the week until I eventually finish (it really won't take that long!)
I share this to encourage the perfectionists and procrastinators... I know you're out there!
What big looming project is hanging over your head right now? Windows, photos, your basement or attic, swapping clothes for a new season, or maybe an upcoming move. Whatever "it" is, you likely don't need to do it ALL today. Just take 5-10 minutes and do one part of the project, then move on with your day.
I can attest that one clean window is better than no clean windows - and, after cleaning one window, I'm motivated to clean more windows.
As you go through your week, consider what you could do "next", even if it doesn't allow for a fully finished project or totally crossed-off to-do list.
Also, in the spirit of spring cleaning, I'm sharing my window-cleaning tips, in case you'll be washing windows with me this week. 🙃
Blessings,
simple food.
Taco salad is one of my favorite easy meals when life feels busy, and schedules don't always align.
It's a family-friendly recipe perfect for weeknight meals, group potlucks, holiday parties, and more... and the leftovers are fantastic for lunch!
School Play: Nora was in the school's 8th-grade play this past weekend. After attending all 3 performances, my cheeks are literally sore from smiling so big for so long. It was such a cute play (Cactus Pass), and she performed beautifully.
As our kids get older, and I have less involvement in every minute of their lives, I'm continually in awe of how quickly they can become good at something when they put their minds to it. Teens and tweens are so fun!
Double Birthdays: Speaking of teens and tweens, Simon celebrated #12 last week, and Buster will be 3 this week. Simon is much better behaved than Buster, but they are both so stinkin' cute that it's hard to get mad at either of them. 🥰
Simon and Buster - summer, 2023
our "silly Simon" is 12 - March, 2026
Giant Sandwich Loaves: One of my biggest pet peeves when making homemade bread is how small the loaves are -- especially for a hungry family of 6! However, last week, I ordered these giant 5" x 13" bread pans and made 2 of the biggest loaves of bread I've ever made. They were actually larger than a traditional loaf of store-bought sandwich bread (2 full pounds!) These two loaves lasted us 4 full days and were a hit! I'm baking more today.
Happy Pi Day: Our math-loving family wishes you a "Happy Pi Day" on Saturday (3.14). If you want to celebrate with actual pie, I've got lots of easy, yummy pie recipes on my site!
