crazy hair day - homemade yogurt - Medieval week - cozy reading time
Did you know that January 9 is referred to as "Quitters' Day"? Apparently, studies have shown that the majority of New Year's Resolutions are broken by January 9.
Yikes -- those aren't very good odds!
I've never been big on resolutions -- however, I've long been an advocate for setting and working towards goals.
I might not hit my goals... but I also might nail them on the bullseye. And even if I do fall short or get off track, I'll still get a lot closer to hitting my goals than if I never started. Right?
A few of the "goals" I have for my own home, family, and life are:
Enjoy family meals as many times per week as possible.
Create a home that is clean and organized, but still cozy and lived-in.
Monitor my daily routines so they continue to serve my life.
Since many of you are also interested in easy family meals, doable decluttering tips, and intentional time management, I'm sharing 3 posts that I think will get you closer to those goals.
I don't make empty promises (like a magazine-worthy home in 30 days or less). Instead, I share helpful tips and ideas that you can implement (starting today) to take baby steps towards your goals.
If you get started and then stop... just start back up again. There's no way to "fail" because these goals are always a work in progress -- a journey towards better, not best.
No "Quitters' Day" for us, right friends!
simple food.
If family meals are a priority for you, you're in good company! Gather your family and friends around your table, and I'll show you how to feed them without spending all day in the kitchen.
I'll even include a sample weekly meal plan and recipe links!
Starting your day a little earlier can be a powerful way to take control of your time.
Earlier mornings give you quiet space to plan, focus, and move through your routine with intention instead of rushing. In short, they can set you up for a much more successful day.
Bible-In-A-Year Reading Plan: Several of you asked for my Bible-in-a-year reading plan... and although there really isn't anything special about the reading plan I used, you can download it here.
Long Black Vest: Forget the "little black dress", I've been looking for a long black vest (without a hood) for over a year now... and I finally found one I like. This one on Amazon is warm, but not bulky, and works well for many occasions (I've worn it a lot this winter already!) It's quite roomy, so if you're between sizes, I'd size down.
Easier ExtraCurricular Schedules: As our kids get older and more involved in outside activities, I've gotten in the habit of creating a seasonal spreadsheet with the dates, times, and locations of their various sporting events, band/choir concerts, church programs, special school events, etc. -- basically anything that parents or grandparents are invited to watch.
I then send the PDF to grandparents and anyone else who might be interested in cheering on our kids. They can print it off or access it from their phones to see when and where our kids are... and I don't need to constantly remember to tell everyone the plan each day or each week. If they forget, it's on them!
