Does anyone else feel like the holiday season is a bit of an oxymoron?
One week, we're slowing down, practicing gratitude, and soaking in cozy moments with the people we love. Then suddenly, it's all flash sales, shipping deadlines, and checking our gift lists against our Amazon shopping cart. And before the wrapping paper even makes it to the trash, we're told it's time to declutter, reset, and simplify our homes and lives for another new year.
YIKES!
It's easy to feel overwhelmed and confused as we strive to be thankful for what we have, tempted by what's on sale, and pressured to start fresh -- all in the span of a few weeks.

My Dream House: For as long as I can remember, my dream house has always been a renovated old farmhouse with a giant porch, filled with primitive furniture and English Cottage style decor and gardens. I got the old farmhouse with the giant porch 15 years ago, and we renovated it over the next several years. I filled it with many pieces of primitive furniture, and some of my decor nods towards the English Cottage style. However, practicality eventually won out...
I wanted more storage with upper cabinets in our kitchen, Dave insisted on comfortable furniture (seriously, who needs comfort when you can have charming style 😂), and the kids wanted carpet and their own ideas in their bedrooms.
Instead of renovating my own home again, I just head to Megan.D.Miller's Instagram account about once per quarter and binge on the gorgeous pictures of her home. If you love primitive furniture and English Cottage decor, you will absolutely LOVE her home!
Fun Faux Decor Item: One fun decor item I like to utilize around our home is faux book boxes. They look like old, worn books, but they are a great way to hide remote controls, cords, batteries, or other unsightly items that you want to keep easily accessible.
Clutter-Free Gifts: I will continue to share my giant list of Clutter-Free Gifts for all ages from now through Christmas, as I can almost guarantee it will offer ideas for everyone you need a gift for this year (and likely save you so much time, energy, and money).
Skip the mug, skip the silly socks, skip the ornament (seriously, skip them), and go for a clutter-free option instead.
First Flurries: We got our first snowfall this past weekend... motivating me to organize our winter gear. Also, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... 🎶 and the kids are trying to persuade us to put Christmas lights on all our pine trees.🎄
