AI: From Hype to Habit | | The Data: Forty percent of U.S. workers now say they use artificial intelligence in their role at least a few times a year, up from 21% two years ago. The Trend: While daily use of AI in the workplace remains low, it has doubled in the past year (from 4% to 8%). Frequent use (a few times a week or more) has climbed from 11% to 19% since Gallup's first measure in 2023. Read More | | | 2. White- vs. Blue-Collar AI Gap Grows | | The Data: Twenty-seven percent of white-collar workers now report using AI at work at least a few times a week, up from 15% just last year and triple the rate among front-line workers (9%). Gender Divide on Abortion Widens | | The Data: A trend-high 15-percentage-point gender gap now exists on abortion legality: 56% of women versus 41% of men say abortion should be legal in all or most circumstances. The Trend: Sizable gender gaps in views on abortion emerged in 2022 and have widened further since the Dobbs decision. After rising from 53% in 2020 to 61% in 2022, women's pro-choice identification remains steady, while men's has dropped from 48% to 41%, creating a 20-point divide. Read More | | | 4. Nurture vs. Nature | | The Data: Half of Americans (50%) say being transgender is due to external influences such as environment or upbringing, while 30% say it's a trait that a person is born with. This is nearly the opposite of Americans' beliefs about being gay or lesbian (45% say born with; 38% say environment or upbringing). Partisan Divide: Views split sharply along party lines. Most Democrats believe transgender (57%) and gay/lesbian identities (74%) are innate, while majorities of Republicans attribute both to external factors (76% and 62%, respectively). Read More | | | 5. Jaws Hits the Big 5-0 | | The Data: Jaws celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. In 1975, 21% of U.S. adults had seen the movie. Today, that figure is 78%, with nearly universal viewership among Americans older than 50. A Deeper Dive: The generational pattern has reversed over the past 50 years. Younger adults (aged 18 to 29) were once the most likely to have seen Jaws (40%) but are now the least likely (53%).
