Our family was welcomed home from Florida to a driveway lined with blooming Daffodils!
While away, we enjoyed constant sunshine, lots of swimming, fun with cousins, and not touching a computer for 8 full days!
That said, it's good to be home and back to our "normal" routine again. Buster is glad to have us home too -- especially since we brought him a new toy.
The boys are excited to start baseball and I'm excited to start crossing off the many outside projects on my list.
I hope this week's content encourages and excites you to tackle the next thing on your list too (or maybe that one to-do you've been putting off for weeks/months!)
simple food.
As fresh berries become ripe this spring and summer, use my no-sugar jam recipe to preserve them for delicious fruit flavor all year long.
We go through LOTS of jam at our house, and this recipe is always a winner!
Lifelong learning is good for your brain and your self-esteem -- not to mention the joy and satisfaction that come from learning something new, or developing a new skill.
And guess, what... you don't need to go back to school! I'll show you how!
"Mom Brain" is a Real Thing: Earlier this week, I listened to a interesting podcast about Mom Brain (apparently our brains physically change after having kids!) The podcast offers practical tips to combat the urge to worry or feel anxious about our children, our finances, our home, and our life. It also shares a powerful faith perspective -- what if we really did cast ALL our cares on the Lord?
Washable Outdoor Rugs: For years, I replaced my outdoor rugs every spring because they were just so gross and worn down after a year of heavy use. Then, 2 years ago, I hesitantly purchased a few "washable" outdoor rugs hoping they might last longer than a year.
I've been pleasantly surprised with how well they wash up (I'm on year 3 with the same rugs and just freshened them up this week again.)
Bigger Isn't Always Better: I was reminded of this again over Spring Break. Dave and I had a gigantic king size bed in a large room with a huge TV on the wall. It was fun for a week, but we joked that we sometimes couldn't find each other in the big bed.
