THIS WEEK ON THE BLOG:
- Our Favorite Taco Salad Recipe
- A Less Overwhelming Way to Wash Windows
- 3 Letters That Can Sabotage Simple Living
The window above is in our boy's bedroom... and it was VERY dirty (the picture does not adequately show the grime!) Not only did it have lots of water spots and dirt on the outside, there were also lots of hand prints, finger prints, and other "smears" on the inside.
The other day, the sun shone so brightly through their window (illuminating all the dirtiness), that I decided I needed to clean it A.S.A.P.
I grabbed my trusty window-cleaning cloth, thoroughly wiped down the inside and outside of both window panes, and went on with my day. It took less than 5 minutes for me to be able to enjoy looking through their sunny window whenever I walked upstairs.
Yes, the rest of our windows were still dirty, but I didn't need to clean every window in my home to enjoy one clean window. Plus, the boys' window was the dirtiest in our house, so it was still a "win" in my book!
I share this to encourage the perfectionists and procrastinators... I know you're out there!
What big looming project is hanging over your head right now? Windows, photo books, your basement or attic space, maybe an upcoming move. Whatever "it" is, you likely don't need to do it all today. Just take 5-10 minutes and do one part of the project, then move on with your day.
I can attest that one clean window is better than no clean windows - and, after cleaning one window, I was more motivated to come back and clean several more windows later that afternoon, even if I couldn't get to them all.
As you go through your week, consider what you could do "next", even if it doesn't allow for a fully finished project or totally crossed-off to-do list.
Also, this week on the blog, I'm sharing my window-cleaning tips and anti-perfectionism advice.🙃
Have a great week,
simple food. Taco salad is one of my favorite easy meals, so I figure it's about time I share the "recipe" online (it only took me 13 years!) It's a family-friendly recipe perfect for weeknight meals, group potlucks, holiday parties, and more... and the leftovers taste fantastic for lunch!
organized home. If it feels overwhelming to clean all your windows in one day, you'll love my (much) simpler approach. Plus, I have a cheap and effective recipe for DIY window cleaning spray!
intentional living. Do you get caught up in being the bEST, having the cleanEST house, the prettiEST flowers, or the largEST group of friends? If so, you might be sabotaging your simple living efforts...

Spring is almost here... use this simple tip to remove sticky tree sap from your skin, hair, clothing, outside toys, and more.
We were looking back at old Spring Break pictures and came across one of my all-time favorites -- the sleepy sloth! This is sometimes how I feel right after lunch!
And in honor of Buster's 2nd birthday this week, I'll share one of my favorite pictures of him too (for the record, I still wouldn't encourage anyone to get a dog).
