March is just around the corner, bringing with it warmer weather and busier schedules (spring sports, music concerts, and all those end-of-the-school-year activities, to name a few.)
Every year around this time, I remind myself not to "cause my own chaos".
I'm responsible for the activities I sign my kids up for, I'm responsible for how much I choose to work and volunteer, I'm responsible for how picky I am about the cleanliness of my home, I'm responsible for the time my kids get to bed, I'm responsible for any home and yard projects we decide to tackle... the list goes on.
I realize some situations might be out of our control, but in MOST cases, we (the adults & the parents) are responsible for much of the busyness and chaos we allow into our homes and lives.
If you don't mind busyness and chaos for a short season, bring on all the things. If you'd rather not have so much busyness and chaos, get better at saying "no" (I've got 99 tips to help you with this below)! 😁
Have a wonderful week -- I'll be back next Wednesday with a few more Favorite Things!
simple food.
Mango Salsa Chicken has been one of our family's favorites for 10+ years!
This "recipe" only requires about 5 minutes of hands-on time and the slow cooker does the rest. It's delicious served over rice, in a tortilla, on a salad, or even as a dip for chips.
Book of The Week: The Warsaw Sisters. A great book based on stories of women's involvement in the Underground in Poland during WWII. I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that these tragedies actually happened in real life to real people just a few generations ago.
Purchase of The Week:Noiseless space heater. Our 15-year-old space heater died a few weeks ago, and after testing 3 different models, we decided on this slim unit for our tiny bedroom. It keeps our room toasty warm and it doesn't have a fan -- which means NO noise! There's currently a 30% off coupon if you're in the market.
Ah-Ha Moment of The Week: The boys got body wash from someone for Christmas... which meant they stopped using Bend Soap. When they both got rashes all over their torsos, I tried a variety of creams, allergy meds, etc. Then (ah-ha!), it dawned on me that they were using different soap. We immediately switched them back to Bend Soap and their rashes went away in 2 days!
Simon's skin is the reason we originally purchased Bend Soap's goat milk soaps 10+ years ago, and we're all still benefiting from it today.
Accomplishment of the Week: I ordered our 2024 Family Photo Album (I was waiting for a coupon code) and it feels good to officially cross that off my to-do list. This book was my 59th digital photo book ordered over the last 18 years -- all with just a few minutes of consistent effort each month! (How I organize our photos and create these books.)
