Experiments gone wrong 🧪

Pump Science, a token launchpad for Decentralized Science (DeSci) projects, has acknowledged its mistake after the private key to the platform's Pump.fun account was leaked on GitHub.

This allowed a malicious attacker to launch several fake tokens using their profile, such as Urolithin B (URO) and Cocaine (COKE), which users initially deemed to be legitimate.

Pump Science added that any new tokens launched using the compromised wallet have not been sanctioned by the team and should be considered as scams.

The team has also changed the name of its Pump.fun profile to 'dont_trust' and is working with Blockaid to flag any newly minted tokens that would be launched under their account.

Although Pump Science has blamed Solana-based firm BuilderZ for not removing the private key from its codebase, the team believes that they were not entirely responsible for orchestrating the exploit.

Instead, Pump Science suspects the hacker may be the same entity behind an earlier attack on James Pacheco, the founder of a commodity tokenization platform known as 'elmnts'.

Tether exits the Euro 🏃

Stablecoin issuer Tether has ended support for its Euro-pegged stablecoin, EURt, and has stopped minting new tokens as of yesterday.

Tether's decision was made in light of the recent MiCa regulatory framework, as well as the current regulatory climate in the European region.

Tether further stated that until a more 'risk-averse' framework comes into play, where builders are free to innovate, the firm will shift its attention to other efforts.

Existing EURt holders across all supported networks will have one year to redeem their holdings.
