REMINDER: December 26, 2024, Reporting Deadline for General Directive 24-1

On September 25, 2024, FTA issued General Directive 24-1: Required Actions Regarding Assaults on Transit Workers that requires all transit agencies subject to FTA's Public Transportation Agency Safety Plans (PTASP) regulation to provide information to FTA on how they are assessing, mitigating and monitoring the safety risk associated with assaults on transit workers by December 26, 2024.  

This information reflects FTA's commitment to the safety of transit workers and the need to address at the federal level the problem of verbal and physical assaults they face while at work. FTA's General Directive 24-1 webpage provides resources to help transit agencies conduct safety risk assessments and develop safety risk mitigations. The webpage also includes answers to frequently asked questions. Additionally, FTA hosted a webinar on October 15, 2024, to provide information on General Directive 24-1. The presentation and recording are available on FTA's website.
