Introducing the Visa Tokenized Asset Platform 🏛️

Payments processor Visa has announced its new Visa Tokenized Asset Platform (VTAP), designed for institutions to easily issue and manage digital assets.

The firm elaborated that the platform can support various types of tokenized assets, including stablecoins, RWA tokens, and central bank digital currencies (CBDC).

The VTAP is currently in its sandbox phase, with several institutions currently testing out the platform's core features.

With VTAP, institutions and authorities can seamlessly mint and transfer their own issued tokens across both public and permissioned networks.

Besides that, banks and other financial firms will soon be able to access VTAP through an API connection, allowing them to easily interact with clients and third-party users.

Visa also added that a live pilot test of VTAP is slated to launch in 2025 on the Ethereum blockchain.

Another record sale, or is it? 🤔

A new CryptoPunk was recently sold for a record-breaking amount of 24,000 ETH, worth approximately $56M.

However, some users seem to think the recent transaction was part of an elaborate marketing and publicity stunt.

According to on-chain data, the buyer had initiated a flash loan from the Balancer AMM to obtain the 24,000 ETH used to purchase the Punk.

The seller then proceeded to send the funds back to Balancer.

Ultimately, the buyer paid a grand total of $54 to execute the transaction.

According to crypto personality 0xQuit, the sale was likely a marketing stunt to garner publicity and interest for a new memecoin known as 'Kamala Harris Punk,'
