Make your Bitcoin a part of you ... literally! ๐ช VivoKey Technologies, a Seattle-based tech company, has developed a new type of crypto wallet that can be placed under the skin. Known as the Apex wallet, this pill-sized device holds a microchip that stores the data for your wallet's private keys. According to the CEO of VivoKey, Amal Graafstra, users can interact with the wallet through an application on their mobile phone, while transactions are performed directly on the chip. Beyond Bitcoin, the Apex wallet also supports different crypto wallets for various other blockchains. The device is currently available in the 'Flex' version, which can be installed by creating an opening in the skin using a needle where the Apex wallet is then implanted. For crypto wallet enthusiasts who may be interested in the device, the Apex Flex retails for $349, which is much pricier than traditional cold wallets from Ledger and Trezor. Editor's Note: While biohacking has been around for years, it's the first time it's been applied in crypto. Although one might argue that these devices might be an even safer solution compared to existing devices, which can get stolen or go missing, they're still subject to the same issues of data corruption and a whole slew of other problems that we have yet to uncover. On a gorier note, crypto thieves can quickly adapt and locate this new form of storage on their targets using more gruesome methods. |
