The SEC has apparently given 'preliminary approval' to three firms for their spot ETH ETF applications, in line with expectations that the ETFs will begin trading this month.
According to Reuters, sources close to the matter stated that the applications from firms, including Blackrock, Franklin Templeton, and VanEck, will now have to submit the final paperwork to the SEC by the end of the week.
However, all eight spot ETFs will be launched at the same time, in a similar fashion to how the spot BTC ETFs were launched.
Eric Balchunas, a senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, mentioned that alll applicants will have to submit their final S-1 filings by 16th July, along with their respective fees.
He also predicted that the ETFs would be officially approved next Monday, which means that trading would start on July 23rd.
In light of the recent developments regarding the spot ETH ETFs, the price of Ether rose by 2.9% from $3,397 to a peak of $3,497 but has since fallen to $3,370. Editor's Note: Ironically, if the expected launch date is correct, it would occur right before the biggest Bitcoin conference of the year. Jokes aside, the buildup leading to the upcoming spot ETH ETFs looks increasingly similar to the price action of Bitcoin before the spot ETFs, but the environment is so not the same as before.
