Lockdown on Bittensor 🤖 The decentralized AI project Bittensor has decided to temporarily halt network operations after a security incident with user wallets.
Based on Bittensor's block explorer, the last block was confirmed close to 10 hours ago as of the time of writing.
As announced by the community moderator 'Watchmaker' on the project's Discord channel, all transactions on the Bittensor network are currently paused for at least 24 hours while the team investigates the issue.
According to crypto sleuth ZachXBT, approximately 32,000 TAO, worth around $8M, were stolen from users. He also added that the theft of these native TAO tokens from user wallets could have been due to leaked private keys.
Since the attack was announced, the price of TAO has plummeted by 7.5% from $245.51 to $227.17 but has since recovered to $238.86 today. Editor's Note: While $8M might not seem like the largest amount compared to more recent hacks, it is concerning as it may involve the safety of the overall network and not just individual users. Although the nature of the exploit is still unconfirmed, halting the chain in its entirety could very well make a difference. |

Time to cash in your Stars 💰 Developers of Telegram mini-applications can now exchange their Stars for TON tokens or, if they choose, discounted prices for Telegram Ads. The messaging app first introduced the virtual Stars currency last month in June, which can be purchased for real money to be used on these mini-apps.
According to a recent blogpost by Telegram, the platform takes little to no commission from Stars transactions.
Telegram even provides an additional 30% discount to cover third-party payment fees when users transfer Stars into their Telegram Ads account. However, Stars may only be used to put up ads for the same account or channel that earned them. |
