Drifting in the wind π¨ The Drift Foundation has officially opened airdrop claims for their native token, DRIFT. 120M DRIFT tokens, equal to 12% of the total supply, will be distributed to eligible wallets during the airdrop, including 20M tokens as an added bonus. Unlike other airdrops thus far, where users can immediately claim all of their tokens right away, DRIFT's airdrop claims consist of two main components. According to their thread on X, the first component is the initial allocation, which will be available at launch, and the second is a bonus allocation that unlocks linearly over 6 hours. Users can double the amount of tokens received by waiting for 6 hours, or they can choose to forfeit their bonus and claim only their initial amount instead. Otherwise, they may also choose to partially vest their bonus and give up the rest by claiming their tokens early. DRIFT started trading at $0.10 yesterday, surging by 690% to reach a peak of $0.69, but has since plummeted to $0.31 as of the time of writing. Editor's Take: While it was a valiant attempt, it's clear that Drift's innovative bonus mechanism was unable to stop users from dumping their airdrop immediately. This is by no means a fault of the team or anyone else but simply a symptom of current market conditions. The new reality for many airdrop farmers now is simply to survive, and retreating to the safety of small but realized gains is probably the better option. |
