Generative AI in Search: Let Google do the searching for you With expanded AI Overviews, more planning and research capabilities, and AI-organized search results, our custom Gemini model can take the legwork out of searching. AI Overviews and your website AI Overviews appear in Google Search results when our systems determine that generative responses can be especially helpful — for example, when you want to quickly understand information from a range of sources, including information from across the web and Google's Knowledge Graph. No action is needed for publishers to benefit from AI Overviews. Google AI Overviews lead to more searches but less user satisfaction Google's new AI Overviews feature is designed to provide users with the information they seek faster, but it may actually increase searches when Google's AI cannot find what users are looking for. Introducing AI Overviews has raised concerns among publishers and content creators, who fear the feature may discourage users from clicking through to the original links, potentially threatening their business models. Google adds two new Googlebot crawlers: GoogleOther-Image and GoogleOther-Video Google said these new crawlers are to "better support crawling of binary data that may be used for research and development." Ex-Googler: Google's AI projects are driven by 'stone cold panic' Google is afraid of being left behind and thinks the solution is to put AI in everything, a former Google says. Google's site reputation abuse policy applies to both Search and Discover According to Barry Schwartz, Google has updated its Discover content policies to include the new site reputation abuse policy, which was previously thought to only apply to Google Search. Danny Sullivan, Google's Search Liaison, confirmed that the policy applies to all of Google Search, including Discover. It aims to reduce the appearance of rented-out content on reputable sites in users' Discover feeds.
