HTTP 418 or "I'm a teapot" In his latest LinkedIn post, John Mueller, shares an amusing anecdote about a website that returned an HTTP 418 error code, which means "I'm a teapot," when Googlebot tried to crawl it using a mobile user agent. He explains that this is a form of cloaking, which is not only against Google's guidelines but also prevents the site from being indexed and accessed by users on mobile devices. Disallowing UTM parameters in URLs won't help with crawling or ranking Google's John Mueller stated that disallowing URLs containing UTM parameters will not improve a website's crawling or ranking in Google Search. Keyword mapping: Your North Star for better SEO Ryan Jones explains that keyword mapping is a strategic approach to assigning keywords to corresponding pages on a website, ensuring each page is optimized for a specific keyword or cluster of keywords that resonate with the user's search intent and journey. He demonstrates how keyword mapping can drive success for websites in many niches by guiding new content creation, identifying underperforming content, revealing performance patterns, and targeting niche search queries. >> Check my video where I discuss keyword mapping << How to track rankings (the right way) Ever had a page climb to a great ranking position, only to see it plummet the next time you check? Most rank trackers give you a false sense of security. They only check your rankings once a day and miss the times they drop just hours after giving you the report. It's a slight reporting error, but it leads to confusion around how you're truly ranking for targeted keywords.
