Understanding the K-12 Teacher Experience | | Being a teacher has always been challenging, and it's only getting more difficult. New expectations, evolving resource needs, changing technology and more have created a shifting landscape that many teachers must contend with. | | | | | To get a clearer picture of the challenges K-12 educators face (and how they are responding) we explored the perspectives of hundreds of current and former teachers, covering topics like burnout, wellbeing and engagement. Read how these teachers responded, or go in-depth by downloading our report. | | | Combine Engagement With Strengths for a Multiplier Effect | | When faculty, staff and administrators know their strengths, they're able to do more of what they do best and deliver a unique and meaningful educational experience. However, when you combine strengths with engagement, your faculty feel seen and developed and are more likely to have lower burnout and turnover. In fact, teachers who are engaged are 62% less likely to leave their district, compared with teachers who are not engaged or are actively disengaged. Moreover, highly engaged educators and staff members produce more engaged and emotionally attached students with lower levels of absenteeism, higher academic achievement and greater levels of on-time completion. | | | Black, Hispanic Students Most Likely to Consider Stopping Out | | Hispanic (42%) and Black (40%) students are more likely than their White peers (31%) to say they have thought about withdrawing from their postsecondary program in the past six months. Students of color cited mental health, emotional stress and cost as their most important reasons for wanting to leave. | | | Hear First-Hand From Gordon Gee About Creating a Strengths-Based Campus | | Join us at the Gallup at Work Summit 2024 to hear from keynote speaker Gordon Gee, president of West Virginia University (WVU) and a strengths-based leader.
