What books do you want to read?

Oh I'm not too fussed about the type of book I want to read. As long as the book is written well and has an interesting story to tell, I'm happy.

My interest range from fantasy to biographies, historical novels to science fiction. I read some easy crime novels, but stay away from anything that's too complicated.

It's a lovely way to escape into other worlds. I want to enjoy my stay there rather than be challenged every time I visit. Real life is hard enough.

I wish I could honestly say that I want to read the Bible above all else. After all, it is the word of God.

But I can't.

I think it's because it is God's word. It's not like any other book I can relax into.

I tried to read one of its books as light bedtime reading once. Oh boy, was that a mistake.

Sometimes I like to read the end first. It's just something I do. I get impatient. I want to see how the story is going to end and head straight to the last few chapters first.

That's how I ended up in the book of Revelation. I glimpsed a bit of judgement day. Heaven and hell opened up before me. It was glorious and terrifying. I couldn't sleep a wink that night.

That night I realised it wasn't a book I could approach lightly. That it wasn't a book at all but God's word to us. Sharper than any double edged sword.

The Bible is something that I should want to read regularly.

But sometimes I'm a little scared to do so.
