Democracy Dissatisfaction in America | | As the U.S. election nears, it does so at a time of record-high public dissatisfaction with the way democracy is working in the country. Israelis See No Peace in Sight | | Before the holidays, our World Poll team was hard at work asking Israelis about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and how their lives are going more generally. We found record-high disbelief among Israelis of ever seeing peace achieved between Israel and the Palestinian Territories. We also captured far less support for an independent Palestinian State (25%) than the last time we asked the question in 2012 (61%). Nearly two-thirds of Israelis now say they don't support a two-state solution. Read Article | 4. The Persistent Hybrid Hike | | One of the most consequential legacies of the COVID-19 pandemic is the paradigm shift in how we work or want to work, with hybrid work arrangements becoming the new normal. Despite so much that has returned to normal since the pandemic, a majority of American workers with jobs that can be done remotely (53%) still expect their employers to let them work in a hybrid setup. Even more (59%) say such an arrangement is their preferred setup going forward. Read Article | 5. Bangladesh Votes | | This Sunday, the land of six seasons hit the ballot box to choose their next leader. Before the vote, Bangladeshis' confidence in the honesty of their elections dipped to 69%, while perceptions of corruption being widespread throughout the government jumped from 47% in 2022 to a more typical level of 61% in 2023.
