BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has officially filed for a spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The Form S-1 filing follows BlackRock's registration of the iShares Ethereum Trust entity with the Delaware Department of State Division of Corporations a week earlier. Nasdaq also filed for the proposed ETF, confirming BlackRock's development of a spot ether ETF.

The Polygon network, a prominent Ethereum sidechain, has witnessed a record-breaking surge in daily transactions, resulting in a substantial increase in gas fees over the last 24 hours.
This surge is attributed to the minting of Ordinals-inspired tokens called POLS. According to data from Dune Analytics, the increased minting activity for POLS coincided with the use of over 102 million MATIC tokens, equivalent to $86 million at current prices, as gas.

Blockchain technology firm Aave Companies has undergone a rebranding and is now operating under the name Avara.
The company has also acquired Los Feliz Engineering, a web3 software development startup based in Los Angeles, known for the Ethereum crypto wallet Family and the developer library ConnectKit. Avara will serve as the parent entity over various brands, including Aave, Lens, the stablecoin GHO, and Sonar, among others, according to an official company release.
