| Most of Gen Z Isn't Thriving — Yet | | Education will continue to play a huge role in providing Gen Z with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and life. Download the report to see what this vibrant generation needs from their teachers, mentors, advisers and education leaders. | | | | The Power of Career-Connected Learning | | One in six 18- to 24-year-olds are neither enrolled in school nor working — and only about half of current students say that their school is good at teaching them about potential careers. Preparing Gen Z for the future means teaching students the skills they need and connecting them to educational and career opportunities. | | | | | States like New Hampshire have turned to career-connected learning (CCL), an educational strategy designed to prepare K-12 students with valuable career skills and connect employers with capable students. Gallup and the New Hampshire Learning Initiative have partnered to better measure the impact this career-connected approach has had on middle and high school students with The Power of Career‑Connected Learning in New Hampshire report. Check out the report to see the effect CCL has had on student participation and engagement. | | | | Help Students Make Informed Career Decisions | | When asked what career they expect to have at age 30, one in five U.S. 15-year-olds (22%) could not name a career. Students who were able to name a career disproportionately named a handful of high-profile careers like doctor, lawyer, athlete or musician — careers they are familiar with but may not match their interests, opportunities or prospects as they progress through school. | | | | | Gallup and Amazon developed the Careers of the Future Index to give future job seekers and their advisers the information and perspective they need to choose a career path. Educators, advisers, counselors, parents and students can use this important database to make informed career decisions. | | | | Guiding Students With Their Strengths | | A student's strengths will have a big impact on their future career. Educators can better prepare students for the future they want by weaving strengths into career preparation. Strengths allows students and recent graduates to articulate what they do best in interviews and gives them the confidence to show up authentically. Read more about how to use strengths to help students prepare for, achieve and grow in their future careers. | | | | Was this newsletter forwarded to you?
