New on the Blog: The Ultimate List of Clutter-Free Gifts for Everyone! It's beginning to look a lot like... Christmas!?! Yup, Costco has ALL their Christmas decorations out already and this week Saturday marks 100 days until Christmas! Our family honestly doesn't do many extras for the holidays... certainly nothing overly fancy or expensive, and definitely not in September already. However, I do try to plan ahead in an effort to reduce the needless stress and busyness that often accompany the next few months. I know your holiday season will be easier, simpler, less stressful, more relaxed, and more focused on what's important to YOU if you take a little time right now to think through the upcoming weeks and months. So I'm dedicating this week's email and blog post to help you plan ahead for the holiday season... I promise I'll get back to my regular content next week. 👍🏻 Simple Food. Baked goods are one of my family's favorite things about the holidays -- lots of cookies and bars! However, I rarely make any cookies in December. Instead, I make dozens and dozens of cookie dough balls and cut-outs in the fall months and freeze them for later. Then we simply pull out whatever we need during the holidays and pop them in the oven. It saves SO much time and mess. Get my recipes --> Easy Holiday Cookies & Bars! Organized Home. A CANDY COUNTDOWN: As I mentioned above, it's roughly 100 days until Christmas... which means, if you stock up on clearance Halloween candy next month, you'll be well on your way to creating a frugal and fun candy countdown chain (we usually start ours on the first Sunday of Advent). The kids love this tradition and it's a great way to anticipate Christmas with a little treat each day. HOLIDAY BAKING: I've used the Nutrimill Artiste Mixer for years -- and since they are always sold out close to the holidays, I'm sharing it now! The Artiste + Baker's Pack is the best deal because you get the dough hook, wire whisks, cake paddles, cookie paddles, and bowl scraper (my favorite) all in one set. This is one investment you'll benefit from for many holidays to come. 😍 GO WITH GIFT CARDS: Do you love the idea of giving practical gifts (like gift cards and cash) but wish you could personalize them a bit? Well, you're in luck -- I've been doing it for years and have many creative ideas to give gift cards and cash. By planning ahead, you can probably score some great holiday deals on gift cards too! SIMPLE GIFT WRAPPING: Buy a giant roll of white craft paper and use it for all your gifts (year-round). The kids can color on it or you can embellish it with seasonal accents. Last year, Dave and I wrapped our kids' gifts like snowmen (with the same white paper). It was easy and the kids thought it was SOOOOOO fun! CHRISTMAS CARD PREP: It's time to dig out a favorite family photo and order your holiday cards. Just think how amazing it will feel to have all the envelopes addressed in advance -- no last-minute rush! Don't wait to stock up on stamps either. That's all for this week -- please add any of your favorite clutter-free gift ideas to the comments! Merry Christmas (in 103 days!) 😂🎄🎁 ~ Andrea |
