On The Blog: How to create spaces that serve you well? August... when all the flowers on the front of our house are in bloom at the same time! Also... when school starts. Dave and the kids head back in less than 2 weeks, so I'm starting to switch our home from summer mode into school mode. No, we don't homeschool, but I do set up our home differently for different seasons -- so it better serves our family in our current season of life. We refilled our giant bin of "special school snacks" and made the lunch packing items & water bottles easily accessible in our kitchen cabinets. I rearranged the mudroom closet to make room for backpacks, rain boots, and light jackets. We stocked our backpacks with the required school supplies, so we're ready to go on that first day. The whole process took very little time, just some mental thought regarding the way our home would function best and serve our current needs as a new school year begins. And THAT'S one of my favorite things about an organized home -- when it works so well for you and your family (read more on this in today's blog post!) Simple Food. Zucchini Recipes: Every year I try to make a variety of zucchini recipes to use up all our garden-fresh zucchini. Well, this year, our zucchini plants didn't do so well and I only got 2 zucchini! Two-wheels! After 2 summers of coaxing and bribing, Clara was finally willing to get on her bike... and now is riding 2-wheel like a seasoned veteran! Nora let me do a fun "braid" in her hair! The boys went to football camp and are now in full-on "football mode". They are collecting football cards, playing catch every chance they get, wearing their new football hats, and are super excited to attend as many of the high school games as we let them!
