Firmware Freedom

While the crypto community continues to be up in arms over Ledger's latest decision, other hardware wallet providers are turning it into an opportunity to attract more users.

One of Ledger's competitors, GridPlus, has recently announced plans to open-source its firmware by the third quarter of 2023.

On why their firmware could not be open-sourced today, GridPlus responded that further auditing and penetration testing are required to increase their product's security.

Stablecoin issuer Tether announced yesterday that it would begin purchasing Bitcoin as additional reserves for its stablecoin, USDT.

According to the firm, Tether will spend up to 15% of its realized operating profits to buy Bitcoin on a regular basis.

In their latest quarterly assurance report, Tether currently holds more than $1.5 billion of Bitcoin.

Moving to a New Base

After deploying on BNB Chain in early 2023, decentralized exchange Uniswap may now be setting its sights on Coinbase's Layer-2 network, Base.

Three key contributors of Uniswap, including Michigan Blockchain and GFX Labs, have submitted the proposal to deploy on Base, citing that the network aims to have 'day-one support for Uniswap v3'.

However, this proposal is still under discussion and will need to be approved later on by UNI token holders through an on-chain vote.
