OpenAI, the parent company of the AI chatbot ChatGPT, has launched an initiative to bring more democratic input to AI development.

In the official announcement on May 25, the company said it is preparing to award 10 grants worth $100,000 each toward experiments in setting up a "proof-of-concept," democratic process for determining rules for AI systems to follow, which should be "within the bounds defined by the law" and should benefit humanity.

Fantom FUD

Rumors have been swirling that Chinese authorities arrested Multichain team members and that law enforcement now has control of a wallet containing upwards of $1.6 billion, according to several Twitter accounts.

Now Fantom has become one area of concern. Thirty-five percent of its assets are issued by Multichain, including 80% of its total stablecoin market cap.

Ordinals on a roll

Bitcoin-based NFTs and meme tokens aren't losing steam. Ordinals inscriptions have topped 9 million on Thursday, tripling the total number of digital artifacts on the blockchain since May 1.

While some detractors continue to call Ordinals a misuse of the Bitcoin blockchain, other Bitcoin advocates like MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor call the protocol a "catalyst" for Bitcoin adoption.

Giants join the CBDC movement

Both national and global companies will participate in the upcoming Brazilian CBDC pilot project. Banco Central do Brasil, the country's central bank, will begin adding participants to the digital real platform around the middle of June 2023.

On May 24, the central bank published the final list of CBDC pilot participants. Participants were chosen from a pool of 36 bids made by over 100 single companies and consortia. The final number of participants is 14; however, some represent groups of companies.
