Republicans on the House Financial Services Committee criticized Securities and Exchange Commission Chair (SEC) Gary Gensler for his oversight of cryptocurrency.
A letter put together by Republicans ahead of Gensler's oversight testimony stated that national securities exchange (NSE) regulations are incompatible for digital assets as they can be used for non-investment purposes.
The letter also points out that the lack of crypto compliance falls squarely due to the lack of clear rules and a nonexistent path for crypto trading firms to register with the financial watchdog.

Gaming-focused crypto project Gala Games announced that it will airdrop its version 2 tokens to all current tokenholders on May 15.
The airdrop will be executed on a 1:1 conversion for every version 1 token held, with support for GALA v1 tokens being dropped immediately after the airdrop.
The new token airdrop comes as part of an upgrade to the Gala smart contracts, making the network more secure and introducing burn mechanisms.

Global semiconductor giant Intel has announced that it will discontinue the production of its Bitcoin mining chip.
The Intel Blockscale 1000 Series ASIC will halt orders from October 20, which will be shipped no later than April 20, 2024.
The termination of the series comes as the company focuses on its integrated device manufacturing (IDM) 2.0 model; the announcement comes weeks after competitor Nvidia also criticized the use of its chips for crypto purposes.

Following the Shanghai upgrade, validators have submitted their withdrawal requests and would have to wait up to 17 days to be withdrawn.
The number is an increase from the end of last week, which stood at 14 days; the unstaking request consists of 28,436 validators looking to exit the Beacon Chain.
According to Nansen, cryptocurrency exchange Kraken makes up about 43% of the withdrawal queue; the exchange was forced to shut down its staking service in a settlement with the SEC.
