New On The Blog: Why I almost never say: "we can't afford that". Happy Spring! We woke up to snow on the ground Monday morning... but I know warmer weather and budding plants are on their way to West Michigan sooner than later! In the meantime, my kitchen table and counters look like this -- everyone keeping track of their March Madness brackets. March always makes me especially grateful we moved our TV into the Den a few years ago -- I can shut the door and let them enjoy a few weeks of basketball without hearing it all weekend long! Simple Food. Easter is almost here... and even if you don't do Easter Eggs (we do not), you might still enjoy my SUPER SIMPLE recipe for "fool-proof hardboiled eggs". I actually bake them in the oven and they come out perfectly every time! Try my recipe --> Foolproof Hardboiled Eggs Organized Home. I love labeling things -- in fact, I think labels are absolutely necessary for so many areas of my home (the freezer in particular!) However, after excitedly using the fancy label maker we got as a wedding gift, I've changed my tune a bit over the last 17 years... OK, actually a lot. I'm now to the point where I'm almost "anti label maker" for my own home and life. Let me share why! Learn more --> Why I Don't Use a Label Maker Intentional Living. As a quick reminder: I'm self-employed and work very part-time, and my husband is a Christian school teacher... so you can rest assured that we do not have access to unlimited financial resources. 😂 Even still, I'm committed to (almost) never say: "We can't afford that". Here's why... Keep reading --> Why I Almost Never Say: "We can't afford that". In other news... PODCAST: I was recently featured on Lisa Woodruff's Organize 365 Podcast -- sharing all about "functional organization for a family of 6"! DEAL ALERT: A few months ago, I shared how our family uses Tello as an extremely frugal phone option (only $5 per month!) If you're interested in saving money on your cell phone bill but still haven't made the switch, Tello is currently offering 50% off your first month for all plans over $10. (Now through March 24) EASY ENTERTAINMENT: Need an easy way to entertain your kids? Give them a bag of balloons and a pump and let them go crazy! We had extra balloons in our medicine cabinet (yes, that's where I keep the balloons!) and I let the kids do whatever they wanted with them last week. I now have a closet full of balloons (which I will eventually pop and trash) but they have had hours and hours of fun with them so far! HAIR GOALS: After last week's update on my year-long hair growth experiment, several of you asked what my "end goal" is, in terms of the length of my hair. I'm not totally sure how long I'll let it grow, but this is an "inspiration photo"... ... I'm getting closer! 💇♀️ LOOKING AHEAD: I plan to be offline the first week of April for Spring Break -- but I won't leave you without my April Favorite Things. I'll share them next week, so you'll actually get them a few days early! Blessings to you, Andrea p.s. Spring Break countdown = 8 days 😎 |
