The New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) denied allegations that its move to take over the crypto-friendly Signature Bank was to deliver an "anti-crypto message".
The regulator cited "a significant crisis of confidence in the bank's leadership" to be the main driver for the shutdown.
The response comes after Barney Frank, a Signature Bank board member and former lawmaker, suggested the bank's relationship with crypto clients to be the reason for its shuttering.

A federal judge of the United States District Court Southern District of Florida has ruled in favor of a plaintiff who issued the lawsuit through an NFT.
Judge Beth Bloom ruled that the anonymous hackers were liable for the $971,291 USDT that they stole from the plaintiff's Coinbase wallet in December 2021.
The judge's determination that NFTs constituted a legitimate form of legal notification for these defendants marks the first time an American federal court has allowed defendants to be served by NFT.
