New on the Blog: Easy 7-Layer Chip Dip Our Peonies are finally blooming so we could put together a bunch of simple bouquets for our teachers last week -- just in time for the last day of school TODAY!! We included mini iris, chives, nepeta, and salvia for a purple/pink combo that turned out really well. Simple Food. One of my favorite things about summer break is snacks by the pool. I regularly serve hearty afternoon snacks, allowing us to push back dinner by at least an hour. This week's recipe is one of my favorite make-ahead snacks and side dishes. She finds toads almost anywhere we go -- at home, at the neighbors, at school, at random parks -- they just come to her. It's cute to see how gently she handles them. Dave and I got to play Blacklight Dodgeball with Nora and Simon last week -- one of the fun end-of-year activities for older grades (something that hasn't happened for the last 2 years, thanks to restrictions). James finished school yesterday and immediately switched gears from "school mode" to "birthday planning mode". We're celebrating all the summer birthdays in my family on July 2, so he needs to make his birthday list ASAP 🥳 I can't believe he's going to be SEVEN!
