Short on time? Read: SIMPLIFY: a word for your year This past week flew by... and yet it feels like we hardly did anything. We played in the snow, hiked in the snow, shoveled snow, washed snow gear, etc. We also did 6 large puzzles, several smaller puzzles, and read through a huge bag of library books. My phone usage averaged 4 minutes per day... which means my camera didn't come out much, but I did snap a couple photos. 🥰 Simple Food. Need a simple lunch idea? My go-to option is "make-ahead salads" that stay fresh in the fridge all week long. I enjoy them on their own, with toasted bread, or with leftovers from dinner the night before. I have several make-ahead salad recipes on my blog -- this week, I enjoyed Easy Italian Chopped Salad. NOTE: I add the cheese and dressing when I'm ready to eat. Try my recipe --> Easy Italian Chopped Salad Organized Home. I always joke that the winter months require less "cleaning" and more "disinfecting". We don't have all the sand and dirt and grass and other outside junk being tracked inside (just snow!), but there are lots of germs coming home from school. I'm far from a "germaphobe" but I do have a few quick daily and weekly routines that help me stay on top of the germs (read to the end of the post). Get the tips --> My Simple Cleaning + Disinfecting Routine Intentional Living. I've never chosen a "word for my year" but I think it's a really cool idea... and the more I thought about the word "simplify", the more I realize it's basically my word every year! In today's post, I use the word SIMPLIFY as an acronym for 8 principles that will help (you guessed it) simplify your home, schedule, and life. Or are other online programs you would recommend? Thanks to a suggestion from a friend at church, I added Heath bar pieces to my recipe for Blondie Bars... AMAZING! I should also mention that I don't like Heath bars, but the toffee addition to the blondies is definitely something I will do again. I'm currently reading "The Things We Couldn't Say" and I can't put it down. The author, Diet Eman, lived in West Michigan for the last third of her life (at the time she wrote the book). I'm planning to dig into Corrie ten Boom's books next. This week, I'll close with a Mother Teressa quote: "the more you have, the more you are occupied. The less you have, the more free you are." Enjoy the last few days of January. And... let me know which of my SIMPLIFY tips are most helpful for you. Andrea |
