Short on time? Get the recipe for my new Double-High Pumpkin Pie! Yesterday, I got an email alerting me that "the holiday templates had arrived" for one of the photo editing services I use. I immediately clicked over, excited to preview the reds and silvers mixed with festive greenery, golden bells, catchy quotes, and Christmas carol lyrics. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find dozens of sales pitch templates (Black Friday, 50% off, etc.)... hardly any traditional Christmas colors, and not a bell or sprig of holly to be found. While I know gift-giving is a big part of the holiday season for so many of us, I want to challenge you (and myself) to spend less time, energy, and money focusing on shopping for the perfect gifts this year. Don't let yourself get sucked into believing the holidays aren't special without piles of presents. Instead, consider starting a new tradition with your family, friends, or neighbors. Volunteer your time or donate money instead of buying more and more and more. Simple Food. Want a SUPER EASY recipe for a delicious pie that looks fancy and tastes absolutely amazing? Give my recipe for Double-High Pumpkin Pie a whirl this holiday season and let me know what you think. Spoiler alert: you can even create this dessert by "doctoring" a store-bought pie!! We also have friendly debates with friends and family each holiday season -- because we all have different opinions on this very important topic! 🎄 I grew up with an artificial tree, and although I love the idea of cutting down a real tree every year, my practical side always wins out and we set up the $40 thrift store tree we purchased over 10 years ago. The kids LOVE decorating it and I love shoving it back in the basement with a garbage bag on top every January with very little mess to clean up! That said, I'd love to know your thoughts on the topic!! Weigh in --> Real or Artificial Tree?!?! Intentional Living. I've been on a mission to simplify the holidays for the last 15 years — even more so after adding 4 young children to the mix. I could share hundreds of tips and tricks to help you simplify your holidays … but in an effort to keep things SIMPLE, I've whittled my list down to the top 5 I feel will make the biggest impact. Read more --> 5 Ways to Simplify The Holiday Season In other news... Thanks for all the helpful recommendations for at-home phone options last week. I'm glad to have all your comments to refer back to as we hopefully choose some type of phone to use as an at-home "emergency" phone for the kids. ------- I've decided to accept speaking engagements again in 2022! It's been almost 10 years (how has it been that long?) but speaking for women's events was something I really enjoyed, and it was sad to turn down so many requests over the last decade. Now that our kids are older and often in school, I'm going to try it again! Feel free to contact me if you have a local group that might be interested in a variety of topics related to simple living, organization, family life, etc. -------- Our family's "lost tooth count" is up to 13 for the year... Simon is still waiting on his 2 front teeth to come in! -------- I've gotten several requests for discount codes or Black Friday sales... and although I try not to focus on that aspect of the holiday season (see my note at the beginning of this email) I do hope to share a few deals on some of my long-time favorites in next week's email! Stay tuned 😉 -------- Much of our November landscaping work is dedicated to ALLLLL the leaves that have recently fallen from our giant century-old trees. Dave uses mulching blades on our mower and "double-cuts" the lawn every few days to mulch the vast majority of our leaves. The mulched leaves are almost invisible, they are very beneficial for our soil... and (best of all) we don't need to rake, bag, and haul away all our leaves (of course, we save a few thousand leaves for the kids to play in!) That's all for this week. Let me know if you try my Double-High Pumpkin Pie! Blessings, ~ Andrea |
