Short on time? Check out our newly renovated laundry room! Happy Fall! I've been waiting to say that for weeks! We're still running our AC occasionally, and the boys are having friends over to go swimming this afternoon... but there are mornings when it smells decidedly "fallish" and I love it! Simple Food. One of my favorite things about Fall is that it's officially apple season, according to the local U-pick orchards around us! I'm a huge fan of almost any type of apple (except Red Delicious) so I find myself pulling out all my favorite apple recipes this time of year. A few years ago, I tried a new apple cake recipe (using mostly whole grains and less sugar) and it was DELICIOUS! The yummy yogurt whipped cream doesn't hurt either... Get the recipe: Whole Grain Apple Cake Organized Home. It's been a long time coming... but the laundry room is finally finished! The before/after pictures are up on the blog (including how I'm utilizing my massive laundry room cabinets). Yup... I'm excited! Read the full post: A Farmhouse Laundry Room Intentional Living. In my everyday conversations with friends, neighbors, and other parents at school, I often hear how busy the weekends are (especially in the Fall). Apparently, they are so busy that some of my friends feel more tired when Monday morning rolls around than on Friday afternoon. Yikes! I promise, your weekends don't have to feel rushed and chaotic ALL the time... in fact, our family is proof that it's possible to enjoy low-key relaxing weekends even with a bunch of kids and a fairly full schedule. Don't believe me? Read the post below... Read the full post: 6 Strategies to Take Your Weekends Back In other news... Nora's class lead a wonderful chapel on Friday, Simon found a giant praying mantis during outdoor education, James officially made a new friend, and Clara's first day of preschool was a smashing success! Now that we're a little more settled into our weekly school routine, I'm SLOWLY getting back into an exercise routine too. After a short break this summer, I started back up with the Every Mother program (affiliate link) and I can already tell a huge difference with my core strength. Best of all, my back pain is gone! If you have weak core muscles, back pain, Diastasis Recti, or any other post-pregnancy core troubles, I highly recommend this program (even if your core weakness is decades old). The online program is only a few bucks a month and requires as little as 6 minutes a day. I've used the Every Mother program for over a year now and it's the first treatment program that has actually eliminated my decades-long back pain! Even though it's officially Fall, we finally crossed "go to the beach" off our summer bucket list this past weekend (better late than never, right!?) The weather was gorgeous, the beach was fairly empty, and the kids had a blast! Our West Michigan beaches are truly spectacular. I think that might just be the perfect picture to leave you with on this first day of Fall -- goodbye summer! Now, I'm off to do a few loads of laundry in my new laundry room and then enjoy some apple cake while Clara is at preschool and I have the house to myself! 😁 Have a great week, ~ Andrea |
