Short on Time? Head to the blog for one of my most favorite zucchini recipes -- Apple Cinnamon Zucchini Bread! I often feel pressure from the outside world to create a memorable and magical summer for our children -- one filled with exciting vacations, adventurous excursions, and over-the-top experiences... and I suppose those events might eventually find a place in our family's summer memory bank. But for now, I argue that our time at home has been both memorable and magical, just maybe not in a grandiose way. For example, the past week was peppered with simple milestones and exciting achievements... the types of things I want my kids to remember when their teachers ask what our family did over the summer. Dave finally solved the Rubik's Cube and finished the privacy fence around our pool. Andrea completed a tedious 500-piece puzzle and picked the first green beans and jalapeños from the garden. Nora is making solid progress on her goal to read through the entire Boxcar Children series (she often reads one full book per day). Simon lost his first top tooth and had fun at soccer camp. James celebrated his 6th birthday and enjoyed many gifts -- including a "new" bike and lots of LEGOs. Clara is finally willing to jump into the pool and get her face wet -- which makes having a pool much more fun for her. Who says you can't have a memorable and magical summer at home? Certainly not me! New on the Blog: --> Easy Apple Cinnamon Zucchini Bread Every summer, I share a new zucchini recipe on the blog. This year, I'm sharing one of our family's all-time favorites... Apple Cinnamon Zucchini Bread (or "Apple Bread" as I tell the kids!) If you have picky eaters, they'll never guess you hid 2 full cups of shredded zucchini in this delicious bread. Get my easy recipe (along with links to other yummy zucchini and apple recipes) in this week's post! From The Archives: SIMPLE SUMMER RECIPES: Satisfy your sweet tooth with these chocolate-covered banana popsicles. Not only are they ridiculously easy to make, but they also have some nutritional value, thanks to the banana! You can also cut your bananas into bite-size chunks for chocolate-covered banana bites! SIMPLE SUMMER DAYS: Do you ever grow weary of making so many decisions every day? (that was a rhetorical question, by the way!) Yup, I can relate -- especially in the summer when everyone is home all day and everyone comes to me with their questions. Several years ago, I implemented a few daily routines and strategies that helped limit the number of decisions I made every day. To my surprise, it worked! Test out my ideas and see if they help simplify your life too. SIMPLE DECLUTTERING MOTIVATION: If you're tackling a closet or two this summer, check out my vlog with helpful decluttering tips (and take a mini-tour of Dave and my tiny closet). One More Thing... I want to say "THANKS" (yet again) for your loyal readership and faithful encouragement. There are plenty of unkind people out there on the internet and I'm thankful you are not one of them! You make blogging fun for me, and I'm grateful for you. ~ Andrea (& family) |
